Ingredients
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 star anise
- Pinch salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, combine the oats, milk and water over medium heat. Cook, stirring often- especially the bottom and side, for 15 minutes.

Stir in the cinnamon stick, sugar, star anise, and salt. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Stir in the vanilla extract and transfer to a covered container. Refrigerate until well chilled, at least 3 hours to overnight.

Remove the cinnamon stick and transfer the chilled drink to the blender. Puree until smooth. If too thick, add a little more water or milk.

Serve chilled with a pinch of ground cinnamon sprinkled over the top.
