This movie has always felt like a fever dream to me. There are iconic moments that feed into the larger story, but in my mind they all stand out as moments and not as a collective story. I know I’m always looking for a lesson to share with everyone, but I think that the particular lesson that I’d like to share this time came less from the movie and more from my creation of my Disney Dinners.

As I’ve said before (maybe?), I started out putting these together over on my Instagram and just sharing pictures of the end product. I jumped head first into things with a sense of urgency because I knew that my passion could fizzle out if I didn’t feed it or I wasn’t happy with my end products. There was also a little bit I didn’t know, both about myself and my creative process, that I’ve discovered in hindsight.

When I took my break from my monthly dinners, I learned what I do love about this process:

I love being creative.

I love researching and learning.

I love sharing.

So I’ll be candid about this particular dinner: I failed. The first time around, I did everything in a completely different way that limited what all I could do. It also made the kitchen look like the mad hatters tea party table by the end of all the preparations. Between the fact that I wasn’t happy with my end product and I didn’t feel like I had really let myself be creative with probably one of the best movies to be creative with, I wanted to give it another shot. Giving myself all the grace, I did what I could before. But I do want to always leave the door open on these movies in case inspiration suddenly strikes later down the road.

So with all that being said: I decided to revisit Disney Dinner #5 (crazy that this was also one of the first) and give it some fun additions to what was originally prepared.
